DESIGN COMMUNICATION
ARC62404 MARCH 2022 INTAKE
SEMESTER 1 MODULE
The programme provides the necessary foundational abilities for effective architectural design communication. It employs several techniques for visualising and expressing spatial concepts through architectural drawings in order to provide students with the abilities needed for design assignments. A sequence of structured and freehand drawings done both outside and in the studio are used to teach these abilities. Students will participate in a blended learning experience throughout the lecture and tutorial sessions as part of the module's teaching and learning strategy, which will be lecture and tutorial focused. The main delivery methods include an online learning component, a portion of face-to-face instruction, and a blended learning strategy (TIMES). The module assessment will be a standalone task with a number of summative tests.
You are required to prepare a set of drawings as specified below in accordance with the planned layout based on the weekly work provided in Tutorial Session: Doodle expression, tonal values, rendering, architectural lettering, and colouring media and scale are among the topics covered in the first four tests.
TUTORIAL ACTIVITY
PROJECT 1
Each student will create a collection of essential architectural graphics as a means of communication to show that they have a grasp on both spatial concepts and the fundamentals of architecture. Students must study and draw different architectural space kinds as well as how the building's form fits into the surrounding environment. The constructed environment's expressions of various architectural elements, texture, proportion, and landscape context follow. Students then investigate visual composition.
PROJECT 2
Orthographic, Axonometric & Perspective Drawings
Students will create 2-dimensiona and 3-dimensional drawings on their own utilising orthographic projections in three stages manually and constantly. Exploring hand projection techniques for architectural drawings with an emphasis on architectural traditions, symbols, and line quality is the goal. Additionally, students will investigate office technique projection, show their technical proficiency, and utilise them as pictorial drawings to establish design thoughts and come up with solutions to design problems.
PROJECT 3
The major project requires students to investigate architectural responses within the context of the site and the programmatic needs of self-space. Students will continue to adapt and use skills and technical knowledge of a certain profession, such as organisation, content, presentation formatting, and style, in order to successfully communicate meaning to an audience.
REFLECTION
Discipline Specific Knowledge
I was able to understand ethical issues, professional practice and put theories into practice of design thinking process after doing research and experience on this assignment given tasks.
Communication Skills
I have learned to communicate with my teammates, reaching out to them to work together.
Interpersonal Skills
I'm able to learned that being in a group is about "us" and not just "me", and listen to my teammate's opinions and make great possible work.
Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
I'm able to think critically and creatively to come up with an effective solution that corresponded to my problem.
Lifelong learning
I had learned independently and also be intellectually engaged on the work.
