SEMESTER 1 MODULE

A historical study of the evolution of Ancient architecture to Western architecture from the beginning of time to the age of Enlightenment, taking into account the intellectual, aesthetic, technological, political, and economic aspects that have impacted architectural design.These challenges are examined using prominent contemporary cases as well as the work and philosophy of significant exponents. 

The lectures will give in-depth explanations of the major developments in the early world, from the ancient through the revolutionary periods to the present. Buildings will be investigated using prominent modern examples as well as the work and ideas of significant exponents. Students will do extensive study on a noteworthy building, including an examination of the primary influences that led to its creation and, as a result, its effect on other architectural features.

PROJECT 1

Students working on this group project are required to conduct an analysis of selected architectural-historical building sites using sketching techniques, literature reviews, and documentation. They are then required to present an appropriate analysis using sketches, chronologies, and diagrams based on their understanding of the process.

PROJECT 2

For this assignment, students must compare and contrast two case studies of nearby historic structures. The culmination and production of a research analysis through assemblage, chronological arrangements, diagramming exercises, indices, and information evaluation; composition and organisation of study; assembly of illustration and text; design layout composition; posters and general presentation; will become more familiar to students.
